Create Forward Founder, Piper Anderson Awarded a 2016 TED Residency

In April I was selected to join the first cohort of TED Residents. Twenty-eight Change Agents were selected from a pool of four hundred applicants from around the world. I will work out of the TED offices for the next four months and receive office space, technical assistance, and the opportunity to develop and present a TED talk in July.

My TED project reflects the mission and vision of Create Forward, to deliver creative strategies for social change. Through residency at TED, I will develop the Mass Story campaign, a national participatory storytelling project that will reach over 20 cities hardest by hyper incarceration creating generative storytelling platform that will use the stories of people most impacted by mass incarceration and criminalization to catalyze . more transformative and restorative approaches to justice. In each city we will bring communities together for an exchange of stories and creative design sessions to envision alternatives to our current criminal justice policies and systems.
